Anytime that someone as Beyonce steps outside, there is someone ready and willing to start up a new rumor about what she is up to. So is it any wonder that someone will be more than happy to say that he or she saw Beyonce smoking?

Whether or not somebody spotted Beyonce smoking is really beside the point. The point is that there are people who really do not care about facts when it comes to celebrities and what they do. Any little thing that happens can be fodder for the creation of some grand event that took place at a restaurant or a party that supposedly reveals something new and startling about the star in question.

Because of the fact that Beyonce has a large and loyal young fan base, that makes her particularly susceptible to the trash media that needs a headline to sell tabloids. Certainly, a banner across the front of the tabloid that screams “Beyonce Smokes” will quickly draw the attention of her fans and will most likely boost the sales of the tabloid for that week. Whether there is any basis in fact is not the issue. Nor is there any real qualms if the headline is a misleading one that ends up being a remark about how someone thinks that Beyonce “smokes” because she played to sold out houses on the last three stops of her current tour really does not matter to the publisher. Selling copy and making money, however, is plenty of motivation to make the news seem a little more spectacular.

These little Beyonce smoker rumors help to keep things moving along for those who love to write and get noticed, but what does this do for the young fans? For some of them who are strongly opposed to smoking, it may shake their confidence in their hero, turning a current Beyonce fan into a former Beyonce fan. At the same time, there will be other fans that will decide that if Beyonce has a cigarette, then it can’t be as bad as people make it out to be. The sad thing is that no one bothers to ask whether or not Beyonce really does smoke.

Asking the question “Does Beyonce smoke?” is probably not going to come up in the tabloids. However, a picture is worth a thousand words. Before buying any rumor of any kind about Beyonce or any other celebrity, the best thing to do is wait for some real proof. Then one can decide what to do about the situation.
